Challenge accepted.
The architect’s vision was to create a home primarily constructed from clean, cast-in-place concrete. This meant that all installation work had to be integrated during construction so that, upon removal of the formwork, nothing would be visible. As a result, a structural conduit has been incorporated beneath the floor, from which all installations branch out to their designated locations.
02
Adding smartness.
The home has been equipped with a ground-source heat pump, which enables natural cooling through the underfloor system during the summer. This cooling process is also essential for recharging the ground loop: the heat extracted from the home in summer is stored in the ground and reused in winter for heating. This thermal exchange allows the heat pump to operate at high efficiency year-round.
03
We keep it real.
The heat pump has been installed in the basement, along with a 500-liter boiler for domestic hot water and a 220-liter buffer tank for both heating and cooling. The buffer tank has been placed in parallel with an external central heating pump to ensure the heat pump always has the necessary flow rate. All pipes in the technical room have been fully insulated with Armaflex to maximize energy efficiency.
04
Done.
Despite the structural challenges, we have successfully created a comfortable living environment with ample fresh air evenly distributed throughout the house.
